Grown for it's attractive flowers and foliage, the Variegated Shell Ginger grows in upright clumps in full-sun to part-shade.
The flowers are said to resemble seashells (particularly when in bud), which gives the ginger its common name.
An ornamental ginger, this Alpinia features variegated leaves of green and gold and is a fantastic understory plant, growing 2-3 metres high.
